…and it was all Yellow!

…Just noticed how much ‘Yellow’ there is in my recent posts!!

Glorious Creative - Placement

I have just completed a placement at Glorious Creative in Manchester City Centre. During my time at Glorious, I was given two projects to focus on as appose to having input in many. This allowed me to really get my teeth stuck into the briefs given and spend my full attention to purely them alone. One brief was website designs for We Are Porspect, and the other was poster/flyer designs for YIDA 2013; Young Interior Designer Awards.

As I focus primarily in Print design, my first brief was to produce website designs for an organizations consultancy. This allowed to me think more about the web and how Graphic Design can be applied to the web as well as a print.

The website for We Are Prospect is currently being built.

My time with Glorious was eduacational and enjoyable. Again, I learnt more about working menthods, precision in Design and also worked with web design. Although it was a small company, it allowed for a very, close-knit team which I really enjoyed. As with all my placements, it’s fun and interesting to see how they all have their individual ways of working and studio types. I’d like to thank those at Glorious for making me feel very welcome, and for making me laugh everyday!

Creative Spark - Placement

I have just completed a 4-week placement at branding and digital agency; Creative Spark, a Web and Graphic Design studio in Manchester City Centre.

During my time there, I worked on a variety of criteria. From researching, making design ammendments and corrections to producing design outcomes and working with individual designers in the team to produce a final soloution. Towards the fourth week, I was given a project to conduct alone, which gave me an excellent insight of working with a client on a very tight deadline.

I am very thankful for Creative Saprk for giving me the oppourtunity and responsibility to do this - the best type of experience you can get is when you are against the clock for a live brief! My time there was amazing, I learnt so much along the way..everyone was so friendly and happy to help. I felt apart of the team, as if I had been there for ages! It was a fantastic opportunity, to which I am extremelly grateful for. I have learnt so many tips from this experience which will help me in the future in my own work.

Some of the work I produced during my time at Creative Spark can be seen in the links section on the left of this page.

The Yellow House Charity Fundraising Event: Promotional Flyer

A friend of mine, currently in her third year of Public Relations (PR Management) course at Edge Hill University is organizing a charity event as part of her final year work. To advertise the event, I quickly designed a landscape A6 flyer to promote the fundraising day.

Yellow House/Yellow Tie; I produced a simple vector shape of a tie to act as petals for a sunflower -which is what the client required with a subtle gradient effect.
More on the event details can be seen here.

Patterns on repeat! I have recently re-cycled some of my design work to quickly produce a simple aesthetic for a competition entry. ‘Stuck on Repeat’ for Ohh Deer is offers the chance to have your own designs printed upon notebooks and stationary alike.

I came across some photographs from an old second year summer project on ‘Hand-made Typography’. I found this interesting to look back on, and see how I could further develop these ideas now. This is one image showing how I created my own ‘ice’ typorgraphy to portray a message that will never be read for long. More information will be on my blog and Behance portfolio very soon…

Following up from my promotion designs for ’Creating a Cathedral’, exhibition curator; Dr. Emma Roberts has informed me she shall be releasing a book based on the exhibit and Stewart Bale’s photography. In the next few weeks, I shall be designing the page layout and book cover design. This should be a quick project, which will tie up the ‘Creating a Cathedral’ project nicely. Watch this space for further developments!
